Where Fashion Meets Art In St. Louis

One of things I love about St. Louis is the vibrant arts scene, especially since access to it is often free. From our contemporary and modern art museums to outdoor art displays to artist showings in cafes, art is everywhere in St. Louis. I appreciate that, and I’m often inspired by it too (see here and here). When fashion meets art…

Today’s photoshoot was inspired by the  artwork currently showing in Coffee Cartel. I had a meeting in the coffee shop when I first glimpsed the artist’s depiction of Donald Glover and Jean-Michel Basquiat. I was so captivated by the work, I returned to snap some photos.

I wore my white jeans, which have been staples for me all summer. Want to see how I’ve been wearing them? See 12 stylish ways to wear white jeans this summer. This time, I paired my white jeans with another staple–my gingham shirt. I wear this shirt that I bought in J.Crew Factory years ago all year long.

My and gold slides cinched my entire look together. I carried my for convenience and to add a pop of color.

How To Get Ready For 3 Summer Events For Under $150

This post is sponsored by Specialty Retailers, Inc. All opinions are my own.

Summer style can sometimes require a lot of preparation. Getting ready can even feel overwhelming because there is no shortage of things to do and occasions to celebrate. The good news is getting all the outfits you need doesn’t have to break the bank. Today, I’m bringing the receipts. This post features 3 fabulous summer looks (head to toe) that I found at for under $150 TOTAL.

I love shopping at off-price stores to get great deals on designer and name brand styles. Gordmans is one of my favorite off-price retailers because they always have the lowest prices. Furthermore, if you ever find an item with a lower price on an item somewhere else, Gordmans will not only match the competitor’s price, they will also give you a $5 Gordmans gift card. This shows that Gordmans is seriously committed to having the best prices.

Summer Style For Less (3 Looks Under $150)

Summer Glam

When I visited Gordmans, I was specifically shopping for a special-occasion outfit. I have a wedding to attend, so I wanted a dress for that. I was excited to see what was in-store because Gordmans always has fun finds and exciting deals. I was thrilled when I stumbled upon this Bebe off-the-shoulder, bell-sleeve, sheath dress for only $29.99 (orig. $129).

How beautiful is the fuchsia color though?

To complete my special-occasion outfit, I found a pair of Nine West blue suede, lace-up sandals for only $19.88 (orig. $108). They are the perfect hue to create a beautiful colorblocked ensemble.

Poolside Style

No summer is complete without a few visits to the pool or the beach. There’s no need to splurge on designer swimsuits when you can find them at Gordmans for less. I literally did a happy dance when I found this Sam Edelman raffia print one-piece swimsuit for $27.98 (orig. $110). This suit is currently available at full price in a few major department stores. I’ve seen it there. I don’t know how Gordmans does it, but I’m glad that they are changing the off-price retailer game.

The print. The plunge neckline. This swimsuit is stunning. By the way, my Hawaiian Tropic coverup, which can also be worn as a wrap dress, is only $6.48 (orig. $49.99) at Gordmans. And, the mirrored aviators? Only $7.99, y’all.

Girls Night/Date Night

Finally, every gal needs a versatile one piece as a go-to summer style. Of course, I have a thing for jumpsuits. So, finding this Bebe jumpsuit at only $29.99 (orig. $119) at Gordmans was an extra special treat. It has stripes and an off-the-shoulder silhouette. Doesn’t get better than that!

To finish this look, I reached for my Nine West sandals, of course.

That’s it! 3 looks for a total of $122.31 plus tax. That’s the kind of fashion mathematics I enjoy. You too? It’s a great time to visit your local . Stop by your local store on July 21 for a special anniversary event. Be sure to enter the  (ends on July 16) for the chance to win a gift card to splurge at the anniversary event.

How To Shop Summer Sales Like A Pro

Right now, just about every retailer is hosting a major sale with prices so right that they make items seem irresistible. Stores are clearing the racks to make room for fall merchandise. This can be a great time to shop for your wardrobe if you shop smartly. Today, I’m sharing my top 3 tips for shopping summer sales like a pro.

How to shop summer sales like a pro

1. Shop pieces that work year round

Fall and winter are right around the corner, so keep an eye out for pieces that you can wear now and style for fall later. I love this from Mango because I can rock it right into fall. See the dress featured before here.

2. Stock up on essentials for next year

Getting wardrobe basics and essentials on mega discount is always a win because you know you will use them. So, stock up when it makes sense to do so.

3. Research to maximize your savings

The only thing that beats a good sale is a better sale. Be aware of sale-on-sale discount codes, store reward programs, and price adjustment policies, and use that information to maximize your savings.

How to Wear Blue Satin Shoes

Before deciding to purchase any item, I like to envision wearing it several ways. I want to be sure I’ll get reasonable wear out of things, you know? I’ve been admiring the  (see them featured before here). They’re bold and blue. Two features I love. And, ultimately, that electric color and a price dip to under $45, persuaded me to get ’em.

Last weekend, I took my new shoes out for a spin. I opted to let the shoes shine by pairing them with a graphic black and white outfit.

The shoes fit true-to-size. With that said, I ordered a half size up because I often need to do that with back-out shoes. That was not necessary in this case. I’m keeping them, but I would recommend purchasing your actual size if you get them.

Blue satin shoes

I’m excited to wear these sandals into early fall. I think they’d pair beautifully with all-white ensembles, serve as a complementary color pop in color blocked looks, or jazz up a pair of jeans and a white tee.
