No doubt. The trench coat is a classic. If you ask me, it’s the must-have spring jacket to survive the season in style. Now, I have a go-to trench coat already (remember this one?). And, I thought that was the only one I needed until I encountered today’s featured style. What can I say? Its striking yellow color had my name all over it.

One of the cool things about being a fashion enthusiast living in St. Louis is that the city is the headquarters for some major fashion brands. Some of your favorite shoe brands, for example, have headquarters in St. Louis. Soft Surroundings, now with stores all across the country, is also based in St. Louis. Last week, I attended an event at the original Soft Surroundings store. That’s when I first saw and fell instantly for this .
I’m glad I saw the coat in-store because the online reviews are brutal and may have swayed my decision to get it. According to reviewers, the color of the coat disappointed them because it appeared more green in the catalog. So, I can totally understand how receiving a yellow color would be shocking. The online description also doesn’t indicate that this trench is unlined. So, some buyers weren’t happy about that when they eventually realized. Of course, I saw that in person. I also love a lightweight, unlined coat this time of year.
I do agree with reviewers that the coat arrived quite wrinkled because of the way it has to be packaged. I didn’t leave the store with my coat and eventually had it sent to me. When I opened it, I did have to do a serious ironing job. For me, it was totally worth it because this trench is beautiful. I wore it out last weekend, one time as styled in this post and another time with leggings and a white tee. Each time, this coat with the piece that snatched my look together.
