How I’m Mixing and Matching Spring Styles

Nobody likes waking up, looking at a full closet, and feeling like they have nothing to wear. I’ve been there. Over the years, I’ve become more discerning about what I add to my closet, even when I get offers of free stuff. Any extra effort I make to assess the fit of potential new pieces into my overall wardrobe always pays off. I feel amazing when I know I can get a lot of wear out of pieces. Today’s post demonstrates that by remixing some spring styles you’ve seen already and will continue to see all spring and summer long.

The yellow trench was a no brainer for me (for a review of the trench, go here). This particular shade of yellow is one my favorites for adding a pop of color to an outfit. I have wool moto jacket in similar color that I wear a lot during the colder months. So, adding a spring and summer version of that go-to jacket just made style sense.

I participated in a Lafayette 148 NY event in St. Louis recently (read more about that here). One of the perks of participating was that I got to receive some high-quality, super pricey pieces from the brand’s latest collection. My approach for choosing an outfit? Pick wardrobe essentials that you’d want to wear again and again. These were one of my selections, and I’m so glad I got them because I’ve worn them so much already. For a more affordable option, the are fabulous.

To add a little fun twist to this black and white combination with a pop of yellow, I wore my leopard loafers. If you don’t mix prints in the spring, what are you doing? Ha.

Here’s a closer look at how all the prints came together. Want to know the secret to making mixed prints work every time? I break it down for you in this post.
