The Secret to Making Mixed Prints Look Cool Every Time

I talk a lot about mixing prints (see here, here, here, and here). The thing is, print mixing allows me to indulge in my love of standout prints while keeping my wardrobe versatile. You see, bold prints can feel dated quickly but not if you’re constantly creating fresh new ways to wear ’em. Today, I’m sharing my secret for making mixed print outfits look good every time.

The Secret to Print Mixing

Always prioritize color and scope of print. ANY two (or more) prints can be united by a common color. In this combination, both the stripes and leopard are anchored by white. The next important consideration is the scope of the prints to be combined. To ensure visual balance, it is best to mix a dominant print with a less dominant one. For example, mix jumbo polka dots with tiny dots (as seen before here).

Furthermore, when you find a combination that works, duplicate it! The last time I wore this green striped shirt (see here), I added a leopard bag on a whim, and it looked fantastic. So, I just knew my leopard loafers (with a similar color) would work too.

Is it just me, or have raincoats gotten increasingly stylish this year? I’ve seen a few fabulous styles that scream, “don’t let downpours drench your style, just put me on!” So, I’m taking heed. Today’s rainy day style is inspired by a raincoat, the . Just so you know, this jacket is also available in a rich gold and navy. Ultimately, it won my attention because it beautifully balances function and fashion with its figure-flattering silhouette and water-resistant fabric.

4 Important Things I’ve Learned about my Body from DNA

4 Things I’ve Learned about my Body from a HomeDNA Healthy Weight Analysis

1. My weight loss ability is below average. Yikes! Apparently, my body’s ability to lose weight from a program of regular diet and exercise is below average.

2. The optimal diet for me would balance complex carbohydrates with plant-based fats and proteins. I was particularly intrigued by the emphasis on plant-based sources for proteins and fats because I’ve been vegan for the last 10 years, and I’ve always felt like it was the best diet for me.
