The holidays may long been over, but there are some holiday styles so fly that we might want to hang on to them until spring officially gets here. Velvet, last holiday’s most luscious fabric, is something I’m not quite ready to let go. So, to make one of my favorite velvet pieces, a velvet jumpsuit (seen before here), work right now, I’m doing some J.Crew-inspired layering to dress it down.
In a recent J.Crew style guide, the brand’s stylists used key denim pieces, like jean jackets and chambray shirts, to add a hip vibe to fancy tulle dresses and velvet items. I immediately saw myself doing something similar. My J.Crew Factory gingham shirt, an old favorite, has the perfect fit for layering. Furthermore, gingham has a casual vibe like chambray. So, I decided to see what it would look like layered under my jumpsuit. It worked.

To add a spring element to this layered look, I added my old circle lace pumps to create a fun mix of prints with the gingham shirt.
Talking about layering, I have two beautiful 14K necklaces from Diamonds Direct that are also perfect for layering. They are both initial necklaces, a “P” in diamonds (get a closer look here) and an “S” etched in gold.

Real talk. I’ve been a little concerned about J.Crew’s future. One of the two stores in St. Louis is rumored to be closing. And, the other one has had half empty shelves since the holidays. And, of course, there are the headline-making administrative changes in the larger company over the last two years. Amidst all this, the latest J.Crew spring arrivals are giving me old J.Crew feels. I’m loving it all.
In today’s post, then, I’m rounding up some favorites. I can tell you now that I’ve already ordered the sandals, and it’s not even sandal season in St. Louis yet.

Favorite J.Crew Spring Arrivals:
It’s official, I’m a fan of the graphic tees trend. Since getting my Resist tee, I’ve been keeping an eye out for my perfect logo tees. You know how we say that style is a way to talk to the world without saying a word? Well, graphic tees take that to a new level since they actually say something. So, graphic tees, usually very affordable, are an easy way to add some personality to your outfits.
What I’m Wearing:
Red blazer (thrifted) | Intuition tee | High-rise jeans | Sophia Webster pumps (option)
Gucci skinny belt | Givenchy sunglasses (options) | Stunna lip paint
When I walked into Zara in NYC recently and spotted today’s featured “Intuition” tee on a table, I grabbed it quickly. Actually, I debated between an “Infinite” tee and this one for a minute. Ultimately, the Intuition tee seemed more Psyche.
For a casual weekend look with a little bit of edge, I paired my graphic tee with high-rise jeans and cinched the look together with a red blazer and print pumps.
To give the look even more edge, I added a few other favorite accessories for doing that, including my Gucci skinny belt. See how else I’ve worn this belt here, here, here, and here.
Of course, nothing says edgy like a bold red lip. The Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored remains my favorite red. Remember when I was featured on the Fenty Beauty Instagram page? Somebody pinch me, please!

Shop the graphic tees trend:
I’ve been talking a lot about trends on the blog. The leggings trend, the sporty chic trend, and the power suit trend are a few examples. What I’m most excited about in fashion and style this year, though, is the movement to become your own mixmaster. Is your style a little bit sporty and a little sophisticated? Mix those styles. Do you like stripes and African prints? Rock ’em together.
What I’m Wearing:
Zara shirt (option, option) | Jeans | Coat | J.Crew pumps (love these J.Crew sandals)
Linea pelle bag (old, option, option) | Lip: Mac “Ambrosial” | Givenchy Sunglasses (options)
As you can imagine, I’m especially fond of this direction in fashion. I love statement prints and bold colors, and I love mixing them together even more.
Take this green striped tunic, for example. I found it on clearance in Zara for under $10. The green stripes are quite chic on their own. But, I knew I could make the top even more funky (and more me) by playing with color and print.
In today’s featured look, I decided to mix in a little animal print with my Linea Pelle bag. This was an easy choice because leopard goes with almost everything. I also plan to wear the shirt with my yellow crossbody bag (seen before here) because green and yellow are magical together.
To add a cool block of color in this particular look, I wore my J.Crew Factory city coat in a beautiful jade color.

Fabulous prints for spring:
This spring, there shall be an abundance of bold and bright colors dominating fashion trends. From sunny yellows to cherry reds, tis the season to make bold colorful choices. I’m particular fond of the happiest color of them all, yellow! So, I’m already planning outfits around the cheerful hue.
I purchased today’s featured top in Zara (find out more here). And, I’ve been eying the yellow pants (shop them here). I think it’s time for me to go try on those pants. So, that’s the plan. In the meantime, here’s an easy way to rock a little yellow this spring.
