My Favorite Statement-Making Styles for Spring

Want to step up your style this spring? The easiest way would be to add one or a few of the statement-making styles of the season to your wardrobe. Without a doubt, two of my favorites are statement sleeves and wide-leg pants. And, today, I toss them together to make a sophisticated but loud statement.

When I first spotted the , I knew I had to have it. The only question was, “do I get it in white, polkadots, or stripes?” Ultimately, I decided on white because that option best fit my current wardrobe needs.

For only $42, this off-the-shoulder top is giving me a sweetheart neckline, cinched sleeves with ties at the ends, and a bustier to maintain the perfect contour. I’m wearing the top in a size 4, which was the perfect fit for me.

I wore the top for the first time to a runway event last night. For the occasion, I paired it with my . If you’ve been eying these pants, now is the time to get ’em. They’re marked down to $19.99, y’all! For reference, I’m wearing a size 4 in the pants. I usually wear a size 6 in pants, but this styles is super stretchy and accommodates hips like a boss.

To complete the look, I wore an old-school favorite pair of Kendra Scott earrings in lieu of a necklace. Wearing earrings alone allowed the top to get all its shine.

Wearing black and white with no pop of color nor an additional print would be unnatural for me. So, my floral pumps were an ideal choice because they added both color and print.

Spring is the Season for Pattern Play

Spring is the perfect time to experiment with your style. Actually, if spring fashion had a mantra, it would probably be “live out loud!” The colors are brighter. The prints are louder.  If you’ve been wanting to try a new color or give pattern play a try, spring is your season.

My Clover Canyon pants scream spring. Its colors are vibrant, and its prints are plentiful. These pants take all the guess work out of color and pattern play because they do it all for you. Styling them is such a breeze then. All I ever have to do is throw on a white tank and bright shoes, and I’m good to go.

A Denim Jacket for an Easy Transition to Spring

I donated all my trench coats this year with the intention of replacing them with one staple trench. So, I’ve been eying the (now on sale) and the (also on sale) as options. I’ve decided, however, to see how long I could go without actually feeling like I needed a trench. And, the way the weather has been, I’ve been reaching for my denim jacket. It’s been the perfect layer too.

Remember my post? Well, I finally wore that dress as intended recently. I needed a light layer that day for coverage and to also dress down the wrap a bit. My denim jacket was perfect for doing all that. By the way, my is about 8 years old. I swear it gets better with age.

If you caught my post, you already know that I’m all about the hoop earring trend this spring. My earrings are another super old item from my wardrobe. They’re a pair of 14kt gold earrings that I bought in TJ Maxx many years ago, back when the price of gold wasn’t so high. If you’re searching for a fashion pair, I love .

I considered choosing a pair of print shoes to mix things up a bit. I decided, however, to wear my blue suede shoes instead. My Luichiny sandals pack some punch, though, with their suede straps and sexy lace up vamp.

How to Mix Blue with Black and White

I’ve outlived so many fashion rules that I strongly believe in breaking the rules. Remember when wearing black and blue was a no-no? Well, that certainly no longer applies. In fact, blue paired with black can be such a sophisticated combination. Since, lapis blue is an IT color this spring, I envision mixing it often with my favorite foundation combination of black and white. Kinda like this.

I absolutely love this Banana Republic gingham print. You’ve seen me wear the full gingham print suit in Fun, Fear, Freedom, and Fashion and the blazer alone in Double Denim with a Fun Gingham Twist. Today, the is holding down this blue, black, and white combination.
