Hi, my name is Psyche, and I love matte lipsticks. But, they’re not good for my dry lips. Argh. My makeup regimen is all about a bold lip, especially during the holiday season. And, a bold matte lip has always been my preference. Since I’ve been on a journey to improving my overall skin in 2016, though, I wanted to try something different, even just occasionally, to address the needs of my lips.
I did try something new, and I’m a fan. So, today, I’m sharing how I recreate my day-to-night holiday beauty looks. Instead of my usual matte lippies, I’m using a couple shades of the . I’ve been aware of the Neutrogena Color Sticks for a minute. While I believed it was possible for these products to moisturize and condition the lips, I wasn’t convinced they could deliver rich color that’ll show on dark skin. I was so wrong.
As a fan of all shades of plum, I purchased the in “Plum Perfect” and “Deep Plum.” The “Plum Perfect” shade is an ideal daytime hue for me. When I first opened it, I smiled because it had a pleasant and subtly sweet smell, probably because it’s made with fruit extracts (like mango) and shea butter. The product applied really smoothly, and my lips instantly felt moisturized. And, the color payoff? Amazing!
During the daytime, I apply my usual foundation, some concealer, a little blush, and a highlight. I’m still rocking my lash extensions, so I skip mascara, eyeliner, and even eyeshadow. The “Plum Perfect” Color Stick perfectly finishes the look.
To easily transition this same look for an evening out, I add a little drama to my eyes by applying a dark eyeshadow in my crease. There are sixteen shades of Color Sticks, and I’m particularly fond of the bold and creamy shades. I switched my lipstick to “Deep Plum,” one of those new bolder hues. This darker lip color impressed me most. It’s creamy, it’s moisturizing, and it’s color is intense.
To make the darker color last a tad longer, I sometimes apply a lip pencil in a coordinating color all over the lip before topping with the Color Stick. Et voila! I’m holiday glam, and my lips feel amazing. In fact, since using the , I’ve found that my lips feel more conditioned overall.
Since I’ve started wearing lash extensions, I have to be careful when removing my makeup. I always use a cleansing wipe, then, to safely remove most of my makeup before washing my face. The Neutrogena® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes get the job done.
Icky foundation? Gone in a flash. Eye makeup? Gone in one swipe.
The wipes have proven to be gentle enough for my super sensitive skin.
