How to Instantly Dress up a Tee and Leggings

Vests have become go-to pieces for adding that little extra something to a look this fall. Remember my (also seen here)? That drapey vest transforms even the most casual ensemble into something fancier. Talking about fancy, my absolute favorite vest for dressing up an outfit, especially during the holiday season, is my faux fur vest.

Now, rock with me for a minute. I wore this look to hang out in the style suite and watch a recent St. Louis Blues Game. Yes, a hockey game. Yes, that same hockey game that most people wear jerseys to attend. But, remember, I was hanging out in the style suite. And, a style suite calls for a little more effort, right?

I grabbed a tee in team colors, paired it with my comfy ponte knit leggings, and then cinched them together with my oh-so-fancy faux fur vest.

Since I was wearing a faux fur vest, I figured my crew neck tee needed a little bling. And, my old J.Crew sunburst necklace was the perfect piece to deliver the sparkle.

If you follow me on a and , you may have seen a few live posts from the hockey game.

This post is sponsored by

Every year I’ve attended (STLFW) has been a unique experience. Remember the events in 2015, 2014, and 2013? Epic! This year, thanks to a Shark Tank style competition, STLFW promises to be the most innovative one ever. The main event, the , will feature five St. Louis fashion makers vying for a grand prize of $10,000! It’s all going down on November 10th at 6:30 pm at Majorette. And, I’m giving away two tickets. Enter to win at the end of this post.

Saint Louis Fashion Week

You can read about all five artists competing for the grand prize on . You can even participate right now by voting your favorite as the . Just so you know, voting is open through November 8.

On the night of the actual competition, don’t look for your typical runway show. No, no, no. This event is bringing interactive fashion presentations, video exhibits, and get this, LIVE PITCHES by the finalists. Can you imagine all the fashion energy and ingenuity that’ll permeate Majorette on November 1oth? This event is not to be missed, y’all. I’m giving away two tickets, but you can also purchase tickets for $10 right . This is the kind of event, after all, that you attend with your entire squad.

Because I know you all love statement jewelry as much as I do, I thought you’d be especially interested in Theresa Wangia of , one of the five fashion makers competing. If you’re in the St. Louis area, you may have seen Beltshazzar Jewels in stores like The Vault and The Heirloom Room. The pieces are easily identifiable, too, because they’re rich with a certain global flavor. Theresa draws inspiration from her world travels. And, the pieces? Each is one of a kind, usually made with natural elements like bone, leather, horn, stone, and metal.

I’m excited to see and experience Theresa’s presentation and also her pitch at the . Judging by her bold pieces of jewelry, she’s going to make quite a splash and a strong case for that $10,000 prize.

My husband, on the other hand, really enjoyed the shrimp and chicken jambalaya. We have plans to return to Elephant Bar, and I think you should visit too. To make the decision to visit easy, I’m giving away two $25 gift cards. Enter below.

Mustard and Leopard: 3 Ways to Rock the Combination

I love bold colors and vibrant prints, but I also love having a wardrobe that’s versatile. It’s really important, then, that even standout pieces in my closet can be mixed and matched. So, when I find print-color combinations that work, I work out as many variations of those combinations as I can. Take mustard and leopard, for example, the print and color make magic together. Here are three ways I’ve been rocking the combination.

When I first shared this Kate Spade dress on the blog, I wore it with a mustard yellow sweater to break up the all-over leopard print and for a pop of color. I loved the combination of that print and color so much, I knew I would be wearing it again.

When I purchased this during the recent Anthro sale, then, I already knew exactly how I’d wear it. I also knew that this color would fit right in with my overall wardrobe.

Here are all three ways I’ve been rocking the combination of mustard yellow and leopard print.
