Farewell 2016: Cheers to Ending the Year in Style

I can’t thank you all enough for joining me on this journey to explore style on a budget. With your support, I’ve been able to achieve some really cool things this year, from to . Our community has also pushed me to  and the skills required to run this blog. Talking about skills, nurturing my love of photography is one the best gifts to emerge from working on Visit-Internet. And, I feel fortunate to live in St. Louis because the city has served as such an important muse for my photographs this year.

For a quick glimpse at how St. Louis has inspired me, check out . From my neighborhood to the immediately surrounding neighborhoods, St. Louis has provided me with a wellspring of artistic inspiration.

I’m thrilled then that my final blog post is coming to you from the St. Louis Riverfront, the historic front door to St. Louis. I’ve done photoshoots often here, like in this post. The location looks different today because of thick (and beautiful) fog.

I’m looking forward to continuing to produce content in 2017 and to engage with you. I also wish you the happiest new year ever! See you in 2017.

2016 Recap: What Blogging Taught me about Unbound Potential

A couple years ago, I started writing down my annual goals and doing check-ins throughout the year. Last year, one of my goals was to expand my blog’s reach by appearing in a national magazine. When I achieved a magazine feature and also ended up on the cover of a magazine (an outcome I couldn’t even imagine), I realized that I might need to start setting and reaching for even bigger goals. So, in 2016, I did just that.

In 2016, I wanted to publish content on national platforms. So, I was beyond thrilled to contribute to the Ask Redbook page in the April issue of Redbook. As a pear-shaped woman, I got to offer insights about styling this body type.

Magazine Feature

Ya’ll, I was Ms. March 2016! As many of you know, I was born and raised in St. Kitts. So, I was beyond honored to be chosen by the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank as a Kittitian inspiring excellence and featured in their 2016 calendar. This feature was particularly special because it recognized my work as a fashion blogger.

St. Louis is so central to my blog. I started it here. I get inspired here. So, having the opportunity to share my favorite places to shop in , was such an honor. Get a glimpse of the feature online .

St-Louis Magazine Fall 2016 Issue

I literally had to pinch myself when the editors of Redbook recommended me for a full-page feature ad in the October issue of the magazine. And, the content? My photography (converted into a vector-art illustration) and my story. We each live inspiring lives, and sometimes it takes someone else reminding us of that to realize.

So, guess what I’m reaching for in 2017? Some out-of-this-world possibilities for sure.

2016 Recap: How Fashion Gave me the Courage to Embrace New Opportunities

Once again, fashion pushed me to new opportunities. In 2007, when I started this fashion blog, I couldn’t imagine how much it would change my life. I started this blog to create a space where we could have open and honest discussions about style and budgets. And, while I knew that fashion could be transformative, I didn’t anticipate being as inspired and encouraged by these discussions we have here everyday. These conversations have created opportunities for me and have also made me feel ready to embrace them

In July 2016, I got to host the Camp Redbook booth at Fair Saint Louis. Winning the Redbook Real Women Style Awards competition last year is like a gift that keeps on giving. I’ve been thrilled to continue to collaborate with Redbook.

In July 2016, I got to host a pop-up closet at a local event promoting the Hanger app. It was such a fun experience to give fellow bloggers a peek inside the Visit-Internet closet.

Later in July 2016, I hosted my first event for fellow bloggers and influencers. In partnership with the St. Louis Premium Outlets, I got to select a few of my favorite local bloggers to join me in exploring the amazing finds at the mall.

In early October 2016, I got to share my view on fashion and photography in the middle of America during . I was honored to sit on a panel with such esteemed and seasoned players in the fashion game.

Later in October 2016, I got to talk about fashion and marketing with members of the . It still surprises me how fascinated people are by the inner workings of a blog business.

Throughout the year, I also had the opportunity to connect with many of you at store events throughout the city, from Kendra Scott to Christopher & Banks to my recent appearance at Hazel2Blue boutique.

Thank you so much for your support of my blog! I’m looking forward to continuing to connect with you.

Holiday Red Dress

And, since nothing quite evokes the holiday mood like red, I’m wearing a holiday red dress by Venus. This little dress has so many features I love, from draping to ruching to a halter neckline. The best news of all, though, is the dress is already on sale for just $39.

To allow the dress to shine, I kept my accessories minimal. I’m wearing my  and a couple rings.
