Uniquely You: ModCloth X Visit-Internet

Today, I’m participating in ModCloth’s ‘Uniquely You’ styling challenge.  For the past few weeks, ModCloth has selected a few bloggers to style an entire outfit anchored by a ModCloth pick of the week.  This week, I was tasked with creating a look around the , a navy-striped, pullover sweater with dotted sleeves.

The moment I saw the sweater, I knew I wanted to pair it with a full and flirty skirt.  The sweater and skirt pairing is so current and chic for fall.  ModCloth has an ideal skirt, too, a lined tutu in a beautiful navy blue.  I chose a few other ModCloth items to complete the look, including a statement necklace that magically mixes blue, green, orange, and gold.

Mixed Greens: Emerald + Teal

Since we’ve been talking about favorite fall colors this week (see Navy Styles for Fall), I decided to work with one of my favorite —Emerald.  I purchased the emerald  top in jcpenney late last summer.  This blouse has the kind of hue and relaxed fit that make it suitable to wear all year round.

In today’s post, I paired the emerald blouse with a teal, ponte knit, pencil skirt.  I decided to wear tan boots, but I wish I had a pair of grayish, python booties.  Let me know if you’ve seen some booties like that.

Navy Styles for Fall

Navy blue has emerged as a go-to hue this fall.  This season, after all,  is all about the blues, from cobalt to royal.  Navy, though, is notably special because it goes with everything.  If you’re looking for new and versatile pieces that can anchor many looks, check out these navy selections I’ve been eying for my own wardrobe.

How to Secure “Genius” Deals at Nordstrom Rack

I wore a couple of my latest “genius” deals—items I saved more on than I actually spent—from Nordstrom Rack during Saint Louis Fashion Week, and they were showstoppers.  Whenever I received a compliment on one of my deals, I told people about my favorite shopping secret at Nordstrom Rack.  In today’s post, I’ve decided to share the service I use to help me secure the deals.

How to Secure Deals on Your Favorite Brands at Nordstrom Rack:

Sign-up for email alerts:  Nordstrom Rack stores have an email notification program that allows you to sign up for alerts on specific brands/items that you love.  I signed up to be alerted whenever there are new shipments of Kate Spade jewelry and handbags.  This program isn’t the typical spammy type of email program either.  Whenever there’s a new shipment of Kate Spade jewelry or handbags in my local store, I receive an email, usually from a manager, with details about the new arrivals.  See an example email below:

Tip: Shop early!  Nordstrom Rack stores often receive one sample of special items.

How to sign up:  See an associate in your favorite store and tell her/him that you want to sign up for brand alerts.

Cold Weather Casual

This morning, I woke up to a wintry 27 degrees.  On mornings this cold, my outfit begins with the coat.  And, that’s okay when it’s a fresh coat like my purple, cozy, wrap coat by Calvin Klein.  This coat was a lucky bargain find in Marshalls back in 2011.  By lucky, I mean that I spotted the coat in a size I couldn’t fit in one Marshalls store and then searched every Marshalls in my area until I found one in my size. Sometimes luck needs a little help, right?

Here’s how I’m staying warm in my purple coat today.  It’s layered over a long-sleeved tee and skinny jeans.  Cognac boots, a mustard beanie, and a tote bag add finishing touches.
